Learn Korean in Seoul: Kyunghee University




Kyunghee University is one of the most beautiful campuses in Seoul. Ranking at #=332 in QS World University Rankings 2024, Kyunghee University welcomes thousands of international students every year! Studying Korean language program at Kyunghee University will broaden your international network in one of the best academic environment in the country.


Kyunghee University's Korean Language Institute was founded in 1993, and since then have provided quality education to thousands of international students and foreign Koreans from over a 100 different countries!



Kyunghee language instructors have created and published 19 Kyunghee Korean Textbooks in 2020. Here are some features of the program, highlighting why you should opt for Kyunghee University Korean language program:

  • In the morning classes, students will use the Kyung Hee Korean textbook, which covers grammar, listening and speaking, and reading and writing, to improve their overall Korean communication skills.

  • In the afternoon classes, students can choose from a wide range of cultural subjects, such as Korean drama and K-pop, or special subjects, such as Korean pronunciation clinic, debate, or TOPIK prep. If needed, students can contact an instructor who speaks their native language for counseling.

  • Students can also learn about Korean language and culture by interacting with Korean Helpers (Kyung Hee University students).

  • In each term, students can broaden their understanding of Korean culture by going on a field trip (DMZ, Lotte World, Nami Island, performance, etc.) or taking other special subjects, including calligraphy, cooking, or barista training.

  • Developing basic Korean communication skills for everyday life

  • Composing simple sentences using different grammar and vocabulary

Level 2

  • Performing linguistic functions needed for daily communication

  • Composing longer paragraphs about personal and familiar subjects

Level 3

  • Performing basic linguistic functions for public and social settings

  • Composing a paragraph about familiar social issues

Level 4

  • Performing linguistic functions for public, social, and work settings

  • Composing ideas on general, social, and abstract topics

Level 5

  • Understanding specialized topics, including culture, art, economy, and society

  • Writing and speaking at an advanced level

  • Using appropriate expressions at a given situation

  • Differentiating between context-appropriate formal/informal and spoken/written terms

Level 6

  • Performing linguistic functions in research or other professional settings

  • Handling unfamiliar topics in the areas of politics, economics, society, and culture

Korean Studies

  • Performing linguistic functions in research or other professional settings at a native level

  • Understanding overall Korean language and culture

  • Handling specialized and scholarly subjects
